Whobegotyou wins Yalumba Stakes

Star four-year-old Whobegotyou strengthened his grip on Cox Plate favouritism and gave champion jockey Damien Oliver his 2,000th career winner when he raced away with the Group One Yalumba Stakes at Caulfield.

Sent out favourite, Whobegotyou turned the tables on his last-start Underwood Stakes conqueror Heart Of Dreams in Saturday’s 2000m weight-for-age feature.
Oliver let Whobegotyou find his feet early and the gelding was last of the eight runners early before poking up along the fence to turn for home in fifth place.
Once Oliver gave him full rein in the straight he accelerated quickly and had too much in reserve for runner-up Heart Of Dreams and third placegetter Vision And Power.
"It was a comprehensive win, we had a beautiful run," Oliver said.
"He’s a great horse.
"This is my 2,000th winner, it’s quite emotional."
It was Whobegotyou’s seventh win from 18 starts which have also included eight placings for prizemoney in excess of $2.1 million.
The $3 million Cox Plate (2040m) is at Moonee Valley on October 24.
