Waterhouse poised for record-equalling win in Cup
The Gai Waterhouse-trained pair of Common Objective and Faulconbridge head entries for next Wednesday’s Listed Gosford Gold Cup.
Waterhouse’s father, legendary trainer TJ Smith, holds the record for most number of wins in the 2100m race with five and Waterhouse will be striving to equal that next week.
There are 17 nominations for the $150,000 staying feature including the Hawkesbury Cup quinella of Keepin’ The Dream and Spinney and Manion Cup winner Enzedex Eagle.
Graeme Rogerson, who won the race with Break The Barrier three years ago, has nominated Port Macquarie Cup winner Barlagarney.
The Cup has traditionally been held in the autumn but was switched to the spring this year.
The final field will be declared on Friday.
