Waller's Rosehill run comes to an end

Midweek racing brought an end to Chris Waller’s amazing run of success at Rosehill – but his Saturday streak still remains.

Rosehill-based Waller had trained a winner at 18 consecutive meetings on his home track, all on Saturdays, heading into Wednesday.

But the streak, which started on April 3, was ended as the trainer went winless at the midweek fixture.

The closest Waller came to victory was The Verminator’s second to Gopana when the stayer was beaten in a tight finish.

“We’ll start again on Saturday,” Waller said after the last race.

“But if we want to get technical then we’re still going for Saturdays. We can call it a Saturday streak.”

The trainer is set to have a strong hand again on Saturday with nine runners at Rosehill, including three in the Listed Christmas Cup (2400m).
