Schofield outed over whip rule
Top jockey Glyn Schofield has been suspended for three meetings for excessive use of the whip.
Schofield was outed at an adjourned inquiry at Canterbury on Wednesday into his ride aboard Kings Pride who was unplaced in the Michael Delaney Mile (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.
He was ruled to have struck the horse eight times before the final 100 metres which is three strikes more than permitted.
The suspension commences after Saturday’s Expressway Stakes meeting at Rosehill and Schofield will be eligible to return at Randwick a week later.
It was Schofield’s fifth breach of the whip rules.
