Purton answers Court Command call

Racenet’s Clinton Payne reports that Hong Kong-based jockey Zac Purton will return to Australia on Saturday to partner Court Command in the Group I Doomben 10000.

court command_races Purton got the call after Glen Colless’ decision not to appeal an eight-meeting careless riding suspension from last Saturday’s Doomben Cup meeting.

Purton is in his second Hong Kong season and is seventh in the 2008/2009 jockeys’ premiership with 28 wins.

Court Command capped a successful return from stud, when he served over 100 mares last season, with a strong win in the Group III BTC Sprint on Saturday with Michael Rodd in the saddle.

Rodd was forced knock back the Doomben 10000 ride because he is committed to the Danny O’Brien-trained Absolute Glam.

Court Command is a $15 chance in latest Doomben 10000 with corporate bookmaker Luxbet.

There is a sense of déjà vu surrounding Purton’s booking after he answered a spring SOS from trainer Gai Waterhouse to ride Theseo to victory in the Epsom Handicap.
