Punters definitely ready for Kav sprinter at Flemington
Speedy punters have backed the Mark Kavanagh-trained Definitely Ready to make a winning return to racing in Saturday’s TCL Electronics Handicap (1000m) at Flemington.
Definitely Ready has not raced since his unplaced effort on a heavy track in the Group II Caulfield Sprint (1100m) on Caulfield Cup day.
The break has not stopped punters snapping up the TAB Sportsbet opening price of $3.20, a series of bets has quickly forced the bookmaker to turn the gelding’s price into $3.10.
The David Brideoake-trained filly Warm Love opened as a $3 favourite before the support for Definitely Ready prompted TAB Sportsbet to turn the three-year-old’s quote out to $3.10.
Warm Love and Definitely Ready share the top line of betting for Saturday’s $75,000 race ahead of the Group II winner Wilander and the out of form gelding Tollesprit at $8.50.
The Clinton McDonald-trained State Grade is the only other runner under double figures in the market. TAB Sportsbet has the son of Redoute’s Choice as a $9.50 chance to win the Flemington sprint.
Meanwhile, the in-form Peter Moody-trained gelding Testascana is the opening favourite for the Hanan Displays Handicap (1600m).
Testascana, the winner of six of his 14 starts, is a $3.50 favourite to claim his second successive win in Saturday’s $75,000 race.
Carnero is the $4.40 second favourite while Riceman, They Won’t Last and Overtake share the third line of the market at $7.50.
