Prizemoney boost for Albury Cup

The Albury Racing Club has announced significant prizemoney increases for its showcase Gold Cup carnival next year.

albury_racing_gif Just three days after the club won the award for Most Popular Feature Race Meeting in Country NSW, Albury Racing Club chief executive John Miller revealed the prizemoney purse for the feature Gold Cup would increase $45,000 to $170,000 next year.
The boost means the Albury Gold Cup (2000m) will become the richest Country Cup race in NSW.
"The cup carnival has seen rapid growth over the past five years and the club is committed to reinvesting in the event to continue to improve racing quality as well as on course hospitality and customer services," Miller said.
Total prizemoney for the two-day carnival, which will be held on March 25 and 26 next year, will be $475,000.
The Cup will be supported by the $40,000 TAB Flat Knacker with an additional $50,000 bonus on offer if the winner can break 50 seconds for the 900 metres.
