Nikolic relieved as charges dismissed

Jockey Danny Nikolic was a very relieved and vindicated man after four charges against him before the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board were dismissed.
Nikolic had been charged by Racing Victoria stewards for improper practices in connection with racing and for conduct prejudicial to the interests of racing but Board Chairman Judge Russell Lewis said there was not sufficient evidence to prove the four charges which were therefore dismissed.

Lewis said the board’s decision on Tuesday was unanimous in what was a difficult case.

Nikolic had maintained his innocence over the past few months during the long stewards’ investigation.

“I was quietly confident I had done nothing wrong so I was hoping the RAD Board would see it my way. I’m very happy now,” Nikolic said.

“This is all past tense to me, I’m sure I can now look forward to the spring carnival especially.

“I want to really get on with things – ride the big winners.”
