Mr Baritone out of BTC Cup

Injury has forced last year’s Stradbroke Handicap winner Mr Baritone to be scratched from Saturday’s BTC Cup at Doomben.

The 1200-metre feature is the first Group One of the Brisbane winter carnival.
Trainer Michael Moroney said the seven-year-old hurt himself and was suffering from a minor leg infection.
“He’s got a small infection in his near-front pastern and we’ve had to give him some anti-inflammatories,” Moroney said.
“It’s not serious and it’s not a major drama that will affect him for the Stradbroke next month.
“He’ll be right to run in the BTC Sprint next start.”
The Group Three BTC Sprint (1350m) will be run at Doomben on Saturday week with the Group One Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 6.
