More black type for Written Tycoon

More black type for Written TycoonPromising young stallion Written Tycoon has registered more black type today with his speedy 2yo daughter Alezan Thunder running a bold 3rd today in the Listed Emirates Airline Plate over 1000 metres.

The Mark Kavanagh trained filly entered the race as a solid favourite after saluting strongly on debut at Morphettville.

Alezan Thunder was one of the best out of the gates once again showcasing her brilliant speed before being settled by jockey Michael Rodd. The filly showed signs of greenness and ran about in the straight but still gave a great sight before being collared close to the finish by the Darley owned Applegate and Sydney filly Snitzerland.

Alezan Thunder continues the great run of success for Eliza Park and Iskander Racing owned stallion Written Tycoon fresh off his crowning for Champion First Season Sire of Australia 2010/11.

The filly becomes the 4th individual stakes placed progeny for Written Tycoon following in the footsteps of flag bearer Masthead (duel G1 placed), Prestigious Miss and Sydney trained Written Consent.

Alezan Thunder is a product of the very successful Adelaide Magic Millions Sale, a sale which has produced numerous stakes performers over the years generally at bargain prices.

Alezan Thunder was purchased at the 2011 edition by Mark Kavanagh for $55,000 for stable clients, from the Rothwell Park draft. The strong athletic filly was well admired at the sale garnering the attention of several top judges before being knocked down to the all conquering Kavanagh team.

Alezan Thunder is the 5th foal from the metro placed Thunder Gulch mare Elysian Thunder. Whilst a fairly modest family this does trace back to G1 winning Irish Derby winner Grey Swallow, a current resident at Wadham Park Stud Victoria.

Interestingly from a pedigree perspective, all four of Written Tycoon’s stakes place getters have a strain of Danzig in their female line. Whilst not totally surprising given the impact of Danehill in Australia, each one of these horses actually come from different source of the breedshaper.

With Danzig all over the breed in Australia this augers particularly well for Written Tycoon’s future.
