Master O’Reilly has joined Zabrasive on the sidelines for Saturday’s Caulfield Cup.

Trainer Danny O’Brien said 2007 Caulfield Cup winner Master O’Reilly was suffering a bout of colic but he was hopeful he would recover in time to contest the Melbourne Cup.

Rosehill Guineas winner Zabrasive has a slight tendon injury which will require a break of about four months.

First emergency for the Caulfield Cup, Mourayan, is not certain to take his place with owner Lloyd Williams to make a decision on Saturday morning with severe weather forecast in Melbourne.

New Zealander Red Ruler gains a start as the second emergency and will line up in his third Cup after finishing sixth in 2008 and last of 18 in 2009.

Last year’s Melbourne Cup winner Shocking remains favourite ahead of Sydney horses Metal Bender and Herculian Prince.
