Donna takes the Honours at Canterbury
Donna’s Honour resumed in fine style for new trainer John O’Shea, winning the Freeway Hotel Texas Poker Handicap over 1250m at Canterbury on Wednesday.
The dead surface proved no problem on the day for the Honours List mare, who’s previous wins have all be on good tracks. Her lead up trial form on dead surfaces proved encouraging, winning a 900m trial at Rosehill and running a close 3rd at Warwick Farm in good company.
Jumping from barrier three for jockey Tim Clark, Donna settled at the tail of the field, travelling 3 deep around the bend to storm home down the outside to pinch the win from Tempo Manor.
The win took the 4 yr olds race record to 3 wins and 4 placings from just 12 starts for the Iskander Racing lease syndicate.
