Bid Spotter favourite to complete Cups double
Hobart Cup winner Bid Spotter is the opening favourite to complete the big Tasmanian Cups double in Wednesday’s Group III Launceston Cup (2400m).
TAB Sportsbet has the Graeme Rogerson-trained son of Redoute’s Choice as a $4.80 favourite to win the $225,000 race ahead of the Mick Kent-trained Victorian visitor Red Buttons at $5.50.
Another Victorian runner, the Darren Weir trained Streaky Fella, has firmed from $7.50 to $6.50 in early betting on the race. TAB Sportsbet took bets of $600 at $7.50 and $350 at $6.50.
Dream Pedlar is the best of the local fancies at $7, despite being a doubt the distance, with Victorians Davcon and Fast Future at $10 along with the Hobart-trained runner Fast Future.
Meanwhile, the local front-runner Conquering is the $2.10 opening favourite to record the 24th win of his career in the Listed George Adams Plate (1600m).
The Charlie Goggin-trained gelding won the Listed Lyons Stakes (1400m) at Hobart last time out to secure favouritism for Wednesday’s $100,000 race.
Forbidden Quest is next in the market at $4.60 with Dream Flyer at $5 with the Adelaide visitor Tobouggie Woogie next in betting at $6.
