Baster turfed from Singapore with no explanation

The Singapore Turf Club has stripped Victorian jockey Stephen Baster of his licence to ride in the Asian racing centre without providing a reason for the shock decision.

Baster rode in Singapore for more than 12 months without incident but the STC exiled the Group I-winning rider with a one-word statement on its website on Monday.

“The Club has withdrawn the Jockey Licence issued to Stephen Baster with immediate effect,” read the entire Singapore Turf Club statement on the matter.

Baster had little to add in a tweet announcing his departure from Singapore other than the fact he would return to Melbourne as soon as possible.

“Unfortunately my license in S’pore has been withdrawn, with no reason given by the club. I will be heading home soon,” Baster tweeted.

Baster rode 74 winners from 581 rides in Singapore between January 1, 2012 and January 21 this year but has steered home just two winners from 34 mounts in the current season.
