Autumn carnival stakes winner retired
One of Sydney’s most improved gallopers has been retired after suffering a career ending injury.
The John O’Shea-trained Warpath had her career ended when she suffered a slab fracture to her near front knee.
“It’s a real blow because she came a long way this preparation,” O’Shea said.
The grey mare showed her ability with a strong win in the Listed Aspiration Quality (1600m) at Warwick Farm on March 12.
The daughter of Reset was then well support before struggling on the wet track when finishing ninth in her final start in the Group I Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill.
Warpath won seven of her 13 starts. The four-year-old won more than $200,000 in stakes.
