Zabrasive out of Cups

The John O’Shea-trained Zabrasive has been ruled out of the rest of the spring with a leg injury elevating first emergency Mourayan into the field for Saturday’s Caulfield Cup.

Mourayan, who is raced by leviathan owner Lloyd Williams, finished second to leading Caulfield Cup fancy Herculian Prince in the Metropolitan Handicap at Randwick last Saturday week.

Shocking, winner of the 2009 Melbourne Cup, remains favourite for the $2.5 million Caulfield Cup ahead of Metal Bender and Herculian Prince.

O’Shea will now rely on Sydney Cup winner Jessicabeel in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

Mourayan will jump from barrier five with more than 40,000 expected to attend the Caulfield meeting despite the prospect of cold, stormy weather in Melbourne.
