Wadham Park rejected by Queensland Racing

Queensland racing authorities have pulled out of a multi-million dollar deal to buy Wadham Park and redevelop it as a training centre.

Queensland Racing Limited (QRL) chairman Bob Bentley confirmed on Monday his board had notified the vendors it was unable to satisfy itself in respect of its due diligence inquiries.
QRL had planned to establish a new industry training facility at the Wadham Park training complex and veterinary hospital at Canungra in the Gold Coast hinterland which was on the market in March for $29 million.
Wadham Park is owned by former Toll Holdings boss Peter Rowsthorn who used it as a training complex for his large stable prepared by Dale Sutton.
Rowsthorn also has a branch of Wadham Park in Victoria.
The Queensland facility had been touted as a solution to the burden on existing training centres at the Gold Coast, Beaudesert and Deagon.
