Top apprentice joins Aquanita
Aquanita Racing has announced apprentice jockey Jordan Mallyon in joining the team. Mallyon, a 2kg claimer, will join their Caulfield stables on a three month loan from Flemington trainer Mike Moroney.
“The chance to move to Caulfield to work with trainers Tony Vasil and Robert Smerdon was too good an opportunity to pass up,” Mallyon said.
“Tony Vasil always has great horses in his stables while Robert Smerdon has put himself at the top of the Melbourne training tree, he trains sprinters, stayers, jumpers I know I’m going to learn so much.
“Plus the opportunity to work at Caulfield should give me more opportunities over the next three months, I can’t wait to get started.”
Mallyon has ridden nearly 80 winners. This season he has notched up a total of 19 winners with six coming in the metropolitan area.
“I’ve been watching Jordan for several months now and I think with his pedigree and a good work ethic he can be a top apprentice and make his mark in the senior ranks,” Vasil said.
