Rocket Man may head down under for carnival sprints

Boom Singapore sprinter Rocket Man will be in Melbourne this spring if a bold Racing Victoria bid pays off.

Racing Victoria Limited (RVL) official Leigh Jordan contacted Rocket Man’s trainer Patrick Shaw after the three-year-old ran a close second to Sacred Kingdom in the KrisFlyer International Sprint at Kranji on May 17.
That placing, behind the world’s top sprinter, was the Australian-bred’s first defeat in eight career starts.
Racing Victoria says Rocket Man’s connections are considering two Group One spring carnival races – the Manikato Stakes and the Patinack Farm Classic, both over 1200m.
The Patinack Farm Classic will be the penultimate leg of the 2009 Global Sprint Challenge.
The RVL website says Shaw is "very positive" about racing in Melbourne but still needs to discuss the prospect with Rocket Man’s owners.
