Rip Van Winkle on track for Queen Elizabeth

Rip Van Winkle is set to head Ballydoyle’s assault on Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

Champion trainer Aidan O’Brien said on Sunday it was "so far so good" with the BGC Sussex Stakes winner, whose training has been interrupted due to a foot problem.
"Rip Van Winkle and Mastercraftsman will both be left in and if Rip is okay closer to the time he’ll get preference," O’Brien told the Racing Post.
"It’s a case of so far so good with Rip Van Winkle.
"We have not had a clear run with him since Goodwood, but he’s getting there and we’re happy enough with him."
His rivals are set to include Group Two winner Delegator, who Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said had done well since winning at Goodwood last start.
"Delegator runs in the Queen Elizabeth II. We have been pleased with his progress since the Goodwood win and we are looking forward to the race," Crisford said.
