Racing industry kicks in for flood relief
Gate takings from Saturday’s race meeting at Rosehill will be donated to raise funds for Queensland flood victims.
Under the banner of Racing For Relief, the Sydney Turf Club is leading a thoroughbred industry move to contribute to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.
Rosehill trainers Chris Waller and David Payne have pledged to donate part of their prizemoney percentages from the Inglis Classic meeting.
Proceeds from a naming rights auction for Saturday’s races will also be donated to the appeal.
Collection buckets will be available at the next two Australian Jockey Club meetings with Racing NSW to match donations dollar-for-dollar.
“I urge everyone to join the NSW thoroughbred industry to come along to one of our fundraising events, enjoy a great day out at the races and give generously to this important cause,” Racing NSW chief executive Peter V’landys said.
