Premiership hangs in the balance for Oliver
Damien Oliver’s chances of claiming an eighth Melbourne jockeys’ premiership hinge on a favourable outcome to an appeal against a careless riding charge.
Oliver, who has been riding under a stay of proceedings after a 10-meeting suspension at Sandown last week, has ridden 65 winners, one more than Craig Williams.
He will have his appeal heard on Monday in the hope he can build on his lead at Sandown on Wednesday and Flemington the following Saturday before taking a break.
Williams is chasing his fourth title in a row.
