Phelan good and Ready
Jason McLachlan is hoping a new environment and a gear change will be enough to rejuvenate Golden Slipper Stakes winner Phelan Ready.
The three-year-old was a spectacular flop last start when he failed to improve from a rearward position when second-up in the Golden Rose in Sydney but can revive his Caulfield Guineas prospects on Saturday.
The More Than Ready gelding was ridden by Brad Rawiller in a leisurely workout at Caulfield on Tuesday morning in preparation for the Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m).
Significantly Phelan Ready will have blinkers replaced with winkers in Saturday’s Group Three event.
An interesting Caulfield track gallop companion for Golden Rose runner up Trusting was the unraced Mick Price-trained Weasley, a son of Shamardal and top class mare Magical Miss.
Both horses are owned by Patinack Farm’s Nathan Tinkler and are entered for the Guineas Prelude.
Meanwhile Peter Moody has decided against running Wanted in the Guineas Prelude, preferring to aim him at the Group One Manikato Stakes under lights at Moonee Valley on Friday week.
Stablemates Tickets and Carlton Forward are also nominated for the Guineas Prelude.
