Muswellbrook Racing – Allard chasing winning double

1Trainer Grant Allard heads to Muswellbrook on Monday and gives himself a strong chance of winning a double.

Allard has accepted with Trivial Matters in the Valentine’s Benchmark 50 Handicap (1450m) and Triple Oh in the Muswellbrook Trainers Class One Handicap (1450m).

Trivial Matters will be having his second run for Allard after previously being trained in Canberra by Len Hodgson.

Trivial Matters is a four-year-old daughter of Reenact and will appreciate stepping up to 1450m on Monday.

“Trivial Matters run at Cessnock was very good,” Allard said. “She got a long way back but worked home strongly in the straight.

“The horse won at Cowra over 1400m before I had her so she does look suited stepping up in distance on Monday.

“I expect her to go close to winning.”

Allard believes Triple Oh has a bright future.

“I reckon Triple Oh is a city winner in the making,” Allard said. “I am looking forward to getting him over a bit more ground later on and then we will see the best of him.

“His first-up run at Newcastle was very good and look suited on Monday.

“Don’t worry about the 4.5kg weight rise, the horse is 17.5 hands and will feel like he has a feather on his back.

“Andrew Gibbons rode the horse well and I am happy to have him on board again.

“Triple Oh looks hard to beat.”
