Full field for Queensland Derby
A maximum field of 18 plus four emergencies has been declared for the Group One $500,000 Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Early favourite Kutchinsky from the Tony Noonan stable drew barrier 10 while last week’s Queensland Oaks winner Miss Keepsake came up with gate six.
The other fillies in the race, Marheta and Dariana, drew barriers 21 and one respectively for the 2400m classic.
Eighteen two-year-olds will face the starter in Saturday’s Group One $500,000 TJ Smith (1600m) with the Chris Waller-trained pair of Pressday and American Crew being allotted gates six and nine respectively.
There were no surprises in the make-up of the $1 million Group One Stradbroke Handicap which also attracted a capacity field of 18 plus five emergencies.
The barrier draw for the 1400m feature will be held on Wednesday afternoon.
