First crop winner for Ferocity stallion Ferocity scored his first success as a sire on Sunday, when Sticksy scored a smart win on debut at the Sunshine Coast.

Congratulations were in order for connections of the Murray Thompson trained gelding, who showed great turn of foot to gun down the early pacesetters and hold out a fast finishing burst from Lucy Louise over the 1000m journey.

Ferocity (Lion Hunter x Chiara by Last Tycoon) had sensational speed as a 2 yr old, winning the Magic Millions Adelaide Classic and finishing second in the Listed P F D Stakes over 1200 metres and third in the Group 2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes during his juvenile preparation.

Ferocity then had the propensity to train on as a 3 yr old, winning the G2 Ascot Vale Stakes before commencing stud duties at Oaklands Stud in QLD in 2006.

A son of the brilliant Lion Hunter, Ferocity hails from a wonderfully performed racing family, being a full brother to the multiple G2 winner Chinchilla Rose and G3 winner Leone Chiara.

With Ferocity’s first 2 yr old crop hitting racetracks around Australia this season, there are sure to be many more winners in the coming months.
