Cumani wins Hong Kong feature Cup

Dao Dao has finished best of the Australian representatives at Sha Tin where English trainer Luca Cumani has snared an overdue international victory with Presvis taking out the QEII Cup at Sha Tin.

Luca Cumani Dao Dao was a close third in Sunday’s Champions Mile won by outsider Sight Winner who beat Egyptian Ra by a short head with the Sydney challenger another short head away.
The David Hayes-trained Niconero, who finished fourth in last month’s Dubai Duty Free in which Presvis was runner-up to Gladiatorus, failed to pick up in the sprint to the line and finished 6-3/4 lengths from the winner in the Cup (2000m).
The Champions Mile still had an Australian flavour with John Size training the winner and Brett Prebble guiding him to victory.
Cumani has had to settle for second in the past two Melbourne Cups with Purple Moon in 2007 and Bauer last year.
Presvis’ jockey Ryan Moore arrived in Hong Kong just hours before Sunday’s race after partnering Tartan Bearer to victory the Group Three Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown.
Moore brought Presvis from last along the rails to claim the QEII Cup by a length from Hong Kong star Viva Pataca who was ridden by Darren Beadman.
