Canterbury Bell

Apprentice Tim Bell was suspended for 13 meetings for careless riding at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Bell was outed from October 26 until November 18 for causing interference aboard Bedouin Express in the Porter’s Liquor Handicap (1550m).

Stewards found Bell guilty of careless riding in that rounding the home turn he allowed his mount to shift out at an acute angle across the heels of Elstrata when he was not clear of Windys Best.

Windys Best had to be severely checked.

The suspension comes at a bad time for Bell as the coming weeks are an important period for apprentices in Sydney as most of the leading jockeys head to Melbourne for the spring carnival.

Bell said he would consider lodging an appeal.
