Brisbane jockey to face stewards inquiry
Queensland Racing stewards have opened an inquiry into Bobby El-Issa’s ride aboard the Norm Hilton-trained Bold Glance at Saturday’s Eagle Farm meeting.
Bold Glance finished second to the promising Essington in the Listed Falvelon Handicap (1200m), but stewards immediately queried the experienced hoop’s ride on the gelding.
Stewards took evidence relating to the “running and handling” of the horse from El-Issa and Hilton, before adjourning the inquiry until a date to be fixed.
El-Issa’s inquiry came at the end of a busy day for Queensland stewards, who suspended three jockeys on four charges at Eagle Farm.
Apprentice Mitchell Wood was suspended for a week for accepting a ride for which he was overweight in the Royal Mail Hotel Class 6 Plate (1600m).
Scott Galloway incurred a careless riding suspension during his ride on Lady Selene in the Plough Inn Class 6 Handicap (1200m), while apprentice Skye Bogenhuber picked up two careless riding suspensions for her winning ride aboard Hull City in the same race.
