Big nominations for Doncaster
The race is already on for a berth in this year’s $2 million Doncaster Mile with close to 200 horses nominated on Tuesday including 31 individual Group One winners.
Reigning Doncaster winner Sacred Choice is one of 17 horses who have won a Group One at 1600m that have been entered for the time-honoured feature, which will be run at Randwick on April 21.
“There is no questioning the depth of quality in the noms we have taken,” Colin Tuck, from the Australian Turf Club, said.
“The entries include winners and placegetters from all of the feature 1600-metre races run throughout Australia in the past year.”
Included in the initial entries are the past two Doncaster winners (Rangirangdoo and Sacred Choice), the past three Flight Stakes winners (More Joyous, Secret Admirer, Streama) and the past three Randwick Guineas winners (Metal Bender, Shoot Out and Ilovethiscity).
Cox Plate heroine Pinker Pinker has been nominated by trainer Greg Eurell along with Group One-winning three-year-olds Atlantic Jewel, Mosheen, Manawanui and Doctor Doo
