iskander.com is the brainchild of Sheriff Iskander, who has raced horses successfully in Sydney since 1996.

One of the first racehorses and stallions that Sheriff was involved with was the mighty LION HUNTER who remains one of the top producing stallions in Australia today, despite his untimely death in 2004.

A successful businessman and entrepreneur, Sheriff is a graduate of the University of Technology Sydney, where he gained a business degree majoring in accounting with sub-majors of business law and marketing.

Sheriff founded the accounting firm ’Alexanders’ in 1990, and has seen that business grow from a small private practice employing only himself, to a medium sized firm with a number of divisions including financial planning, commercial property, marketing & media, and IT. Sheriff has also helped pioneer laser eye correction technology in Australia, with his company Perfect Vision Laser Correction becoming an industry leader in less than five years of operation.

Suman Hedge

iskander.com is co-Managed by Suman Hedge, who also acts as Bloodstock and Breeding Analyst for the company.

Suman has completed his MBA at the University of Technology NSW as well as a BBA with Central QLD University, and has studied thoroughbred breeding in Australia for nearly 20 years.

Before commencing with iskander.com, Suman worked as Racing Manager for top Randwick trainer John O’Shea. He has also honed his skills in bloodstock working closely with leading industry figures James Bester and trainer of the moment Chris Waller.

A succesful breeder in his own right, Suman’s first venture provided Testa Rossa with his highest priced first crop yearling at $260,000.

Suman has had numerous successful breeding ventures since, including organising the matings of PERMISSIVE, Silent Power, Grey Stream, Miss Evergreen, Long and Strong and Lizella.

Suman’s greatest success to date was achieved in 2008 when TRIPLE HONOUR (NZ) won the Group 1 Doncaster handicap. Suman bred Triple Honour at just 27 yrs of age, after sending his outstanding mare Myrrh (NZ) to iskander.com stallion HONOURS LIST. Suman became one of the youngest ever breeders of a Group 1 winner when Triple Honour won the Doncaster, also providing Chris Waller with his first Group 1 win as a trainer.

Chris Chan

Chris is iskander.com's international representative in Hong Kong.

Chris’s comes from a family of keen racing enthusiasts, however his own background in racing and breeding started in Hong Kong some 17 yrs ago. During the intervening time he gained valuable industry experience working in the Randwick stables of top trainer John O’Shea whilst completing an MBA and Bachelor of Commerce.
His role in the racing industry evolved to encompass yearling sales, coordinating the transport of yearlings between farm and the sales venues. This later extended toorganisinghorse shipments between Australia and Hong Kong. Naturally enough, his interests extended to pedigree analysis and forays into breeding, visiting stud farms around the globe.
Chris has witnessed the development and growing status of Hong Kong racing on the world stage and is keen to help the industry to improve. He has worked tirelessly in arranging the transport of retired Hong Kong racehorses back to Australia, and is devoted to ensuring their ongoing care.
Chris regularly contributes to our international racing news, and we are proud to have Chris as a representative of Iskander Racing.
